Oh my goodness guys! Whilst I’ve been busy blogging away for two months, I didn’t realise some of you had been reading and liking what i’m doing! Which is why i’m super pleased to announce that I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award by the lovely Sarah over Kulturica Magazine. Thanks a million Sarah!
So what is the Liebster Award and why is it a good idea?
This is a blogging award, by the bloggers for the bloggers, it’s main aim being to help readers recognise new, up and coming blogs to the community – like a virtual high five, like, you know what, you’re doing alright kid – love your work!
It’s rather cutesy name comes from the German word for ‘dearest’ or ‘sweetest’, which is kind of nice, no?
So how does it work?
If other bloggers nominate you, they’ll send you a message and include you and your website URL in a blog post, such as this one. They then invite you to answer 11 questions designed to get to know a bit more about the (wo)man behind the blog. You then, in turn, pay it forward and nominate 10 other newbie bloggers who you think deserve a mention. If you’re anything like me, you love reading blog posts just as much as you love writing your own, so this award can help you discover a small handful of really great bloggers that you otherwise wouldn’t stumble upon.
Anyway, so here goes;
11 QUESTIONS ABOUT ME:
How will you describe the target audience of your blog in one sentence?
Young, inspired travelers interested in knowing how to see a good chunk of this planet despite time not being on their side; I guess, people a bit like me, trying to have my cake and eat it too.
What is the primary reason for starting your blog?
You ask for one reason, i’ll give you three; I love having a good nose through others’ blogs, and have done for a while, so I hoped it might be a pretty interesting thing to be a part of the blogger community (Hey guys! You seem a friendly bunch!).
I also wanted a bit of a challenge, or a new focus for me; to get stuck into something I might enjoy but also learn some new skills from, such as looking to improve my writing style (I’m dyslexic). The actual idea of writing a blog always seemed pretty intimidating; what if I write like crap? What if I’m not interesting? What if no-one reads my blog?! But then, if you paid attention to all your nagging insecurities, nothing would ever get done would it?
And finally I wanted somewhere to document my travels somewhere other than just a lame Facebook album! Starting a blog seemed a great way to encompass all of these things, thus, my blog was born! Gotta say, it’s been a fun couple of months so far, although blogging is way harder than it looks, right? All your shares, likes and comments have been very encouraging and a great motivation for me to continue blogging away!
How often do you post content on your blog?
Honestly… whenever I feel I’ve got something to say! As I’m a bit of a newbie, I don’t want to start off by posting for the sake of posting; I doubt anyone’s going to want to get on board with me if my first dozen posts are a load of waffle. Quality over quantity, right? At the moment it’s been fairly regular, but I haven’t imposed a posting schedule on myself as yet. The first month was prioritising my pages, and getting the basic content sorted as well getting to a point where I was happy with the general look and feel of webpage. My second month was finding my feet with what sort of blog posts I want to create… so I’m slowly getting there!
I’m also currently working full-time in London, then at the weekend I’m painting and also doing up my house, oh and I do like to travel every so often… so you know, I fit stuff in where I can.
Is there a story behind your blog name?
Not a particularly exciting one – sorry! I did think long and hard about my blog name; I didn’t want anything too ‘restrictive’ so it needed to be pretty wide open, just in case my blog happened to change its focus a few months or years down the line. My brain got kinda stuck on thinking about a certain brand of ink that my company sells in its shops; FW Inks. It stands for F**king Wonderful. Well, that’s when I decided on FP Planet. F**king Perfect, or Flipping Perfect, because I’m a tad more polite 😉
Do you hire people for writing content/creating photography and videos?
Nope, everything’s my own – it’s just little ol’ me running my blog. Everything you read is my own words and all pictures and graphics you see are my very own, unless otherwise clearly credited. I’m pretty new to this blogosphere, so it’s just me, myself and I on this one at the moment!
When you were young, what did you want to grow up to be?
Oooh, toughie! I’m not one to have a plan, and never really have done. I think at one point I was convinced I was going to own and run my own boarding school (I was super into St Clare’s and Mallory Towers as a child – big Blyton fan, me) but as I got older I realised I wasn’t really a lover of kids and frankly teaching sounds like a living nightmare, so glad I didn’t pursue that route! I’m currently a few years out of graduation, where I took a three year Fine Art course in Wimbledon. I now work for an arts retail company in London, which is great!
What motivates you to blog?
All of the inspiring places I’ve been to, which sounds hella cheesy doesn’t it? I love going to places, I love looking back at the photos I took, and I love writing up about my experiences. Great feedback from you all also spurs me on and also awards like this one, so thanks guys!
What is your ideal morning routine?
I’m not a night owl anymore; I left that side of me back in my university days, so it would have been an early bedtime the night before and waking up naturally. Cup of tea (essential), breakfast (eggs) in bed and checking up on everything on my phone and then ready to start the day!
Except that’s never happened… So in reality it’s a 6am start, snooze three times before panic sets in, 5 minutes to find clean clothes and then out the door.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Flying. Which isn’t surprising right? I love planes, and seeing things from above, wouldn’t it be great to be able to sprout wings and go places whenever you wanted to? Also thinking mostly about saving money on air fares… 😉
What is your favourite show?
Not a big TV fan if I’m honest, I just can’t fit in the time! When I do watch TV it’s mostly really easy-going stuff, because it’s either just before bed or early in the morning. Can’t deal with too much story-line when you’re only half-way conscious!
What is your favourite magazine or newspaper?
Favourite? That’s a hard one as well, I don’t really have one. When I want to read something, about something – I’ll google the topic and go from there. I haven’t got a go-to publication that I’ll always have my nose in.
So that’s me, now for my nominations:
- Balance Career and Travel
- Meander with Meg
- Lovely Discoveries
- Alex and Meg Travels
- The Wandering Darlings
- Archives of Adventure
- Weekend Adventures
- Travel Lassie
- Wine and Wayfaring
- Our Wandering Year
I follow all of your blogs, so it’s been great to keep up with your posts. Same questions to you all please, apart from the last two which i’ll substitute for ‘What is your favourite country?’ and ‘What is your favourite thing to do abroad?’
In other news, only 9 days until my Barcelona trip!
