So Picture this; It’s late evening, the sunshine is still persevering through Spring clouds, you’re clutching a chilled bottle of Estrella Damm in one hand, as your push your way through the clusters of chattering young professionals, catching the aroma erupting from a small stall frying up a giant batch of steaming seafood paella as you pass… Oh yes, Barcelona!
Having not long returned from a four day adventure in this particular Catalonian coastal town, I was more than thrilled to find Spain’s number one tipple, Estrella Damm was bringing the famous La Boqueria Market to the British Isles to host a four day ‘pop up’ in Old Spitalfields Market in a quirky Shoreditch, East London.
This breezy covered market, a short stroll from London Liverpool Street station is open for tapas, freshly prepared street food and more than just a few cheeky Estrella’s throughout the British bank holiday weekend. Old Spitalfields is also home to a eclectic mix of boutique shops and high end designer outlets so after a few hours of guzzling the good stuff, make sure to exercise your credit card.
Find out more information or opening times via the Estrella Damm’s Twitter feed or official website here. Old Spitalfield’s regularly host events and pop ups, so don’t forget to check their schedule for the coming months!
If you’re in London this weekend, pair your visit to Old Spitalfields market with a mooch around the surrounding streets. If you can face any more food after your thorough tapas tasting, five minutes walk and you’ll find yourself in the centre of London’s Curry Capital – Brick Lane. Barter yourself a bargain or, alternatively head to Beigel where you’ll find London’s best bagels, 24 hours a day. Afterwards, walk it off and discover the free street art in the area or take a stroll to Whitechapel Gallery for your culture fix.
