Where To Stay In Hamburg: 25Hours Hotel Hamburg HafenCity

I think someone hacked my ‘interior design goals’ Pinterest board, turned it on its head, added a sprinkle of quirky seafaring-style and thrown a couple of sheep into the mix. Confused? All becomes clear as you enter the lobby of 25hours Hotel Hamburg HafenCity, which was my base for my summer weekend in Hamburg.

Welcome to the growing trend in hotels; delicately designed for the rightfully fussy, looking for more from their travel experiences. The detail obsessed creatives, the Instagram braggies, those that crave quality and comfort alongside fun and adventure. Basically, it’s for those who ‘want it all’ but without the steep heart-scrunching price tag and as I discovered, we can find it all here. 25hours is definitely knocking on the door of ‘hipster’, but absolutely rocking its own unconventional yet totally inclusive cosy-classy vibe; which was everything uber-cool Hamburg was about.

Rocking up to the front desk at midday, a room was found for me to check in early, though I’d have more than content to hang out in the lobby for another half hour; the industrial style distressed leather, colour-pop and cool concrete mix was giving me the proper come on; ‘grab yourself a black coffee’ it was saying… ‘boot up your mac book… stay a while…’ But it was time to nest into my Hamburg ‘home for the weekend’; my sixth floor ‘M cabin’ overlooking the harbour.

My Cosy Cabin Room

My own cabin for the weekend was no less cool than the rest of the hotel. My workspace is a converted trunk, a nautical style rope ladder hangs from the ceiling, supercars, explorers, constellations, sailors, naked women and a bulldog called Monty adorn my walls. A globe is my side-lamp and there’s a SchlafSchaf tucked up in my bed sheets. He’s cute though, I’ll let him be.

Though my cabin is snug, my plus one and I (and the sheep; the welcome gooseberry!) have more than enough room to stretch and spread and get comfortable; flick through some books, take a hot shower, take advantage of the free Wi-Fi and Instagram the shit out of the room and plan our next adventure (SchlafSchaf, why are you pointing at South America?)

More at 25Hours Hotel…

More fun was found on the first floor; a delightfully musty radio room with well-thumbed records, a bright chill out club floor with a foosball table that spilled out to the garden, and a cushy mac-room in the corner with a miniature library of coffee-table books.
On the top floor, a harbour sauna room in a repurposed shipping container with a killer view of Hamburg harbour and finally resigning back onto the ground floor to the Heimat kitchen+bar where my buffet breakfast of cold meats, cheeses, pastries, and granola would be served the next morning.
I only had three days to discover Hamburg and 25hours Hotel seemingly had had all the fun in the world constructing a small oasis of adventure in this corner of HafenCity that would make it hard to ever want (or need!) to leave! 25hours Hotel is my new happy place!

How To Get Around Hamburg
From Hafencity
And Make The Most Of Your City Break

25hours Hotel Hamburg HafenCity was ideal for a Hamburg weekend break; near enough to all the sights, around the corner from Überseequartier metro station, but far enough from the action to benefit from a quiet night’s sleep (low horns from the ships docking in the morning just gave our stay a certain ambiance!).
HafenCity itself was the definition of industrial-chic; towering renovated warehouse blocks skim canal-sides, and the squares were dotted with modern cafes and bars, and it was just a short walk towards Rathausmarkt, the main shopping district, and the Alster, or the other direction towards the stunning Elbphilharmonie concert hall. And if you don’t fancy hot footing around Hamburg or the U-bahn isn’t your thing, 25hours Hotel Hamburg Hafencity can rent you a bike or let you borrow their own BMW mini’s. Yes really. 25hours Hotel, you’re too good to us!

Lifes Big Question:
